1950 WASHINGTON NGC PF 68 CAMEO- Crossing The Delaware

$12,500.00
sold out

It’s remarkable this is a 1950 Washington- and it borders on ULTRA CAMEO! This is cameo perfection for the first year in the Washington series to receive the Cameo designation. Cameo examples were rarely produced this year, with only 198 examples total certified in all grades Cameo. Only 1 of 13 examples graded PF 68 Cameo, there are just 4 graded higher in PF 68 Star- but none have been graded PF 69! High-grade examples are extremely rare in cameo condition, and this one looks ULTRA CAMEO!  It offers heavily frosted devices with Washington and the eagle smothered in a lustrous snow-white. Frosty devices sit on deep mirrors that surpass many of the 1950 quarters’ often shallow, almost mint-state-like mirrors. What really makes this one of the finest Cameo 1950’s are the haze-free, tone-free surfaces! No black toning that is unfortunately too common among early-date Proofs, and no haze! Just clear, pitch-black mirrors and those full, cameo devices!
