ULTIMATE DEEP CAMEO CONTRAST!!! Among the VERY FIRST strikes off the #1 cameo die for this date! An example of this monster die appears on the jacket of “Cameo And Brilliant Proof Coinage Of The 1950 To 1970 Era”. The obverse can only be described as DCAM+ - it blows away virtually every other ULTRA/DCAM die known for the entire silver Washington quarter series! Slightly later strikes exhibit the slightest frost-fade in Washington’s hair. I would estimate only 5-15 examples exist with the contrast of this specimen. I once handled a fabulous run of 8 coins off this die, with three examples exhibiting the contrast of this coin, the other five being the later strikes. I have seen but one or two comparable examples since, with this degree of cameo contrast! Spot-free, haze-free surfaces. PCGS has graded just 97 examples total in all grades Deep Cameo, and this is 1 of just 29 graded with only 7 graded higher!
